Rider Info: How i became a windsurfpro… I was born in 1979, right between my two brothers in the small town Aurich, close to the north sea. My parents own a little wooden house at a lake, so i had contact with water since i was a baby. The lake is located close to our hometown, so we could reach it by bike easily and it was just a question of time, until we tried the old board of our parents. The ‘virus windsurfing’ infected me. I put all my money together and bought my first small board, a Fanatic Mosquito. Finished school with the abitur in 1998 and moved to the island Norderney for a year of civil service. That was my entry to wavesailing. I started competing and got my first sponsors. Boards by Fanatic, sails by ART, later Arrows, clothing from Chiemsee. Since that year on Norderney i was ranked top 3 in the discipline Wave-Freestyle in germany. In 2000 i moved to Kiel and started studying sport-science. In the same year i entered my first Worldcup of the professional worldtour PWA. The last years i’ve been travelling to most the PWA-events all over the world. For training in wintertime i mainly go to South Africa or Hawaii, or travel around the globe to explore the unexplored coastlines for Wind and waves. Since beginning 2006 i’m sponsored by Neilpryde.
